Benefits Thanks to a rugged design and unique metallurgical characteristics, MAXAM® Bearings typically perform longer, with lower overall costs, and far less downtime compared to conventional bearings. Here is why: Many configurations, easy interchange: MAXAM Bearings interchange easily with a wide range of common ball, spherical, and cylindrical bearings. They are available in many different configurations to meet both original equipment or replacement/retrofit applications. A wide, continuous load zone: Compared to conventional bearings with rolling elements (left, below), MAXAM Plain, SR Series and GE Series Bearings spread load forces evenly over a far greater surface area (right, below). So, they can manage not only extreme loads, but shock loads with little risk of failure. Conventional bearings concentrate high point and shock loads on small areas of a few rolling elements, resulting in a greater risk of cage, element, or raceway failure.
MAXAM Bearings provide more surface area in the load zone, shown in blue, above.
Tolerate moisture and contamination. The unique metallurgy of the
MAXAM Bearing offers exceptional corrosion and wear resistance, enabling
it to perform despite dirt, foreign matter, and moisture. In
applications that require total immersion, the MAXAM Bearing can be used
in place of high-cost pressurized and sealed bearings. Water, mild
acids, and even sludge can function as lubrication for the MAXAM Bearing
when it is used
at low to moderate operating speeds—no special seals are required.
